CU Succeed Youth Bursary

About the bursary

The CU Succeed Youth Bursary was established in 2016 by the Ontario Credit Union Foundation. Over the past ten years, $836,000 to 664 students.

The CU Succeed Youth Bursary is open to resident Ontario post-secondary students in need of financial assistance for academic, technological, or vocational training.

The bursary is awarded based primarily on two criteria, demonstrated financial need, and community involvement.

Award amounts

Awards range from $1,000 to $3,000. We are distributing $100,000 in 2026!

Applications close June 30th, 2026.

When reviewing the application, the following is considered:
  • Applicants (or their parent or grandparent  must belong to a credit union which is a member of Ontario Credit Union Foundation (listing here), to receive an award the award recipient must have a credit union account
  • Youth is defined as age 25 or less by June 30, of the application year
  • Prior bursary recipients continuing their studies are eligible beyond age 25
  • Programs of study may be academic, vocational, or technical at an accredited post-secondary institution in Canada or abroad
  • Available to those pursuing a college diploma, undergraduate degree, or red seal
  • Masters or post-grad students are not eligible
  • Acceptable grades of 65% or higher are required
  • Applicants must be Ontario residents and Canadian Citizens or have permanent residence status

A third party is an individual or entity, other than the account holder or those authorized to give instructions about the account, who directs what happens with the account. For example, if an account were opened in one individual’s name for deposits that are directed by someone else, the other person or entity would be a third party.

  • A secondary piece of identification from the primary list above
  • Canadian Birth Certificate
  • Credit Card bearing the name and signature of the individual which has issued by a well-known and reputable Canadian financial institution
  • A CNIB (Canadian Institute for the Blind) client card bearing the individual’s photo and signature
  • Provincial Outdoors Card
  • Canadian University or College Student Card with photo (for student identification only)
  • An employee identification card (with photo) issued by an employer that is well known in the community (i.e. KGH, DND, Queens University, Corrections Canada, etc.)
  • Foreign passport
  • Ontario Driver’s License
  • Ontario Photo Identification Card
  • Canadian Passport
  • Permanent Canadian Resident Card
  • Canadian Citizenship Card (issued prior to 2012)
  • Secure Certificate of Indian Status issued by the Government of Canada
  • The DND (Department of National Defense) 404 driver’s license
  • Nexus Card issued by Canada Border Services Agency
  • Foreign Passport (only if it is equivalent to a Canadian issued photo identification document)
